GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS
CONCERNING
MACHINES AND EQUIPMENT.

1.General rules for Speed events, Parades and Club
practice days.
1.0 General:
The motorcycle shall be a racer or sportsmotorcycle type. The following details
must be carried out / adhered to according to the directive. Personal equipment
shall be submitted for inspection at scrutineering.
1.1 Drivers
Licence: Rider must hold licence for motorcycle. Racing licence sufficient for
speed events.
1.2 Helmet:
Must be approved according to Scandinavian or european standards. Pudding basin
type not accepted. Helmet shells of polycarbonate, lexan etc. must not be
painted. The helmet shall be intact and without damage. The scrutineer reserves
the right to fail helmets not complying with the above. Helmets of the type
with hinged front (BMW type), are not permitted.
1.3n Leathers:
Two-piece leathers are acceptable. Some form of back protection must be worn.
1.4 Boots: Must
be of leather with stable soles.
1.5 Gloves:
Must be of leather with no gap between glove and sleeve.
1.6 Number
Plates: 230 X 280mm, one facing forward and two on each side of the machine.
Colours as below:
50 cc, white background black figures
125 cc, black background white figures
250cc, green background white figures
350cc, blue background white figures
500cc, yellow background black figures
750cc, white background black figures
Forgotten Era >250, red background white figures
Forgotten Era >250, green background white figures
Sidecars, as 750cc.
Alternative
colour combinations can occur according to the race regulations published by
the organiser.
1.7 Sundries:
Definition of manufacturing year: Interpretation of year is the latest year of
manufature for engine or frame. If important parts such as wheels, forks etc.,
were modernised at a later date, then this date must be considered as the year
of manufacture. E.G. A machine maufactured 1934 and then updated in 1950 with
plunger rear springing and telescopic forks must be considered a 1950 machine.
4. Machine and equipment rules for practice days and
parades
4.1 Type and
year: Machines taking part must be a racer type and at least 15 years old.
4.2 Eligibility
certificate: Not required
4.3 Frame and
swinging arm: Original, replica or new frame of the period. Suspension must be
also period type. Central shockabsorbers allowed only if original machine was
fitted with same.
4.4 Front
forks: Must not be of a type that was fitted to a later model outside the
period.
4.5 Steering: As 4.4
4.6 Wheels: As 4.4
4.7 Brakes: As 4.4
4.8 Tyres and
inner tubes: Dimensions must as close as possible to the original sizes used
during the period. The tyres shall be in good condition and have a tread depth
of at least 2.5 mm. Inner tube valve must be of the short type and steel valve
caps must be used.
4.9 Suspension:
No restrictions as long as appearance is period. External reservoirs allowed
only if original machines were equipped with such.
4.10 Tank,
saddle and fairing: Shall be of a type that was used within the period.
Machines can be used naked but in this case a front mudguard must be fitted.
4.11 Racing
numberplates: See section 1.6
4.12 Engine:
Manufactured within the period or typical of the period appearancewise. Tuning
allowed.
4.13 Oil and
drain plugs: Sump and drain plugs and such which can cause oil spillage must be
safety wired to a part of the motor or gearbox. (Not to the exhaust pipe or
other vibrating part.) Locking wire shall be annealed stainless steel wire not
less than 0.7mm. diameter. No copper wire to be used.
4.14 Catch
tanks: All breather pipes to be led to the catch tank.
4.15
Carburettor: Must be of period appearance, otherwise optional.
4.16 Ignition
and cut-out: Optional (with reservation that electronic ignition must be
concealed). Cut-out switch must be fitted so that ignition can be disabled. To
be mounted on the clip-on or adjacent location.
4.17 Gearbox:
Period appearance otherwise optional.
4.18 Primary
drive: Optional. If belt drive is used it must be concealed. Spring link on
primary chain to be lockwired or other satisfactory method.
4.19 Exhaust
system: All machines must be fitted with a satisfactory form of silencing.
Sound levels according to Supplementary Regulations from Organizer
4.20 Controls
and instruments: Optional. Throttle twistgrip must though be self closing.
4.21
Brake cables: Front inner cable not less than 1.75mm. diameter. Rear inner
cable not less than 2.5mm. All nipples to be soldered. No screw-on types
allowed.
5. Machine regulations (solo) for race events.
5.1 Type and year: The
machine in question must have been available for sale in

5.2
Eligibility certificate: To take part in competition requires a valid
certificate. The certificate is compulsory even for riders from other parts of

was used before the cut-off date. Swinging arm shall be round section one tube
each side.
5.4 Front
forks: Shall be of a type that was used within the period. Hydraulic or
mechanical "anti-dive" as well as fork braces between sliders not
allowed.
5.5
Steering: Machine after year 1955 should have clip on handle bars.
5.6
Wheels and rims: Wheels shall be spoked and not be less than 18" diameter.
Rim width not larger than WM3 both front and rear in all classes up to 500cc.
Over 500cc. rim width is optional.
5.7
Brakes: Must not be a later type or construction than what was used during the
period.Single front disc (300mm.) only, if double discs were not used during
the period. Over 500cc. class allows twin discs if these were available as
after market bolt-on items before 1973. No holes, ventilation, slits, or
floating disc holders allowed. Calipers must be of a type within the period and
be max two-piston type. Two-strokes must be fitted with drum brakes. Four
strokes can exchange drums for discs.

5.8 Tyres
and inner tubes: Slicks or recut slicks not to be used. Max. tyre width in the
over 500cc. class;front 110mm. rear 130mm. Modern rain tyres not allowed.
5.9 Rear
shock absorbers: External reservoirs not allowed. Central shock absorbers
permitted only if the machine was fitted with such during the period.
5.10 Tank
saddle and fairing: Must be of a shape and style which was used during the
period. Modern tanks (Air box covers) and fairings with lower duck beak
extentions not allowed nor modern style seatpans. Machines can be raced without
fairings but in this case a front mudguard must be fitted. Petrol tank must
contain "Explosion retardant foam" in all race events.
5.11 Racing
number plate: Se section 1.6
5.12
Engine: Crankcase, cylinder and
cylinder-head to be of type found within the period. Tuning permitted.
Machining of original parts allowed as well as fitting of accessories of a type
found within the period. Rebores to standard overdimensions permitted even if
capacity then exceeds limit of class. Triumph T140 and Norton 850 crankcases
and those manufactured after -67/72 are permitted if identical with types
previously mentioned. Norton 850 cylinders allowed but must be sleeved to
750cc.
5.13 Oil
and drain plugs: See section 4.13
5.14
Catch tanks: See section 4.14
5.15
Carburettors: Power jets, flat slide,(Exception Gardener) and accelerator pumps
together with modern smoothbore types (with the exception of Amal Mk.2 and Amal
GP), not allowed. Fuel injection not allowed.
5.16
Ignition and Kill switch: See section 4.16
5.17
Gearbox: Of a type and model used within the period. Gear ratio and number of
gearsoptional.
5.18
Primary drive: Optional. Belt drive can be fitted if concealed. Spring links
must be safety wired.
5.19 Exhaust
and silencers: See section 4.19
5.20
Insruments and controls: See section 4.20
5.21
Brake cables: See section 4.21
5.22
Replicas: Shall conform appearancewise with original item.
5.23
Sundries: The machine shall be prepared for racing. Lights, blinkers, mirrors,
registrationplates etc. shall be removed for scrutineering. Centre and side
stands shall also be removed.
5.2. Supplementery regulations for
pre -48 class.
5.2.3
Frame and swing arm: Before -48 no exception.
5.2.4
Front fork: Telescopic fork is permitted if it can be confirmed that it was
originally mounted.
5.2.5
Steering: Clip on handle-bars is not permitted.
5.2.6
Wheels and rims: Rim width not larger than WM2 both front and rear. Valanced
alloy rim is permitted. Not less than 19" diameter unless otherwise was
originally mounted.
5.2.7
Brakes: Only half-width hubs are permitted. Maximum 7" brakedrum on both
front and rear.
5.2.10
Tank, saddle and fairing: Must be of a shape and style which was used during
the period. Plastic (fibreglass) tank is not permitted. Fairing is not
permitted. Fly screen is permitted. The machine shall be equipped with solo
saddle made of lether or rubber and bumpseats on rear mudguard are optional.
Dual seat is not permitted. Mudguards: Must be of a shape and style which was
used during the period, not plastic (fibreglass). Front and rear mudguard is
compulsory.
5.2.12
Engine: All visible parts must be of a shape and style which was used during
the period.
5.2.15
Carburettors: Up to 1960 permitted, for example Amal monoblock.
5.2.18
Primary drive: Optional. Belt drive can
be fitted if concealed with a chain case of a shape and style which was used
during the period.
5.2.20
Insruments and controls: Clutch-, brake- lever and throttle twistgrip must be
of a shape and style which was used during the period.
5.2.23
Sundries: Oil absorbing material must be fitted under engine and gearbox.
The machine
shall conform appearancewise with original item from pre -48.
6. Machine regulations (Sidecars) for race events
6.1 Type
and year: Sidecar outfits shall conform visually and constructionwise to
machines built during the period up to 1972. Replicas are allowed.
Class A: Wheel dimension 10" or 12" front
and/or rear. Rim width 5.5" maximum. Max. motor capacity 1000cc. , two or
four stroke up to 1972. No restriction on No. of cylinders.
Class B: 16" or larger both front and rear.
Max. rim width WM4. Max. motor capacity 750cc. Sidecar wheel size optional.
6.2
Eligibility certificate: To compete, a valid certificate is required.
6.3
Frame: If the sidecar is not an integral
part of the construction it must be attached by at least 4 points to the main
frame. These attachment points must be firm and without play. Dimensions for
outfit shall be max. 1700mm. width including exhaust system. Ground clearance
unloaded shall be minimum 60mm.
6.4 Front
forks: Shall be of a type and model used within the period.
6.5
Steering: According to period.
6.6
Wheels and rims: Shall be of a type used within the period. Dimensions as in
section 6.1
6.7
Brakes: Shall conform with original types for the period. The braking system
must have two independent systems working on at least two wheels. Brake discs
must not be Vetilated or have floating disc carriers. Calipers shall be of a
type used within the period an have max. two pistons.
6.8 Tyres
and tubes: Shall be of treaded pattern
and have a tread depth of at least 1mm. Slicks or cut slicks not allowed. Inner
tube valves shall be of the short type and valve caps of metal with sealing
washer.
6.9 Shock
absorbers: External reservoirs not allowed. Central shock absorbers not allowed
if machine was not equipped within the period.
6.10 Tank
and saddle: Petrol and oil tanks shall be firmly mounted. Petrol and oil hoses
shall be of a type designed for the purpose. Hose teminations shall be secure
(e.g. safety wired) or crimped nipples.
6.11
Racing numbers: See section 1.6
6.12
Motor: Appearance and installation of the motor shall conform to the period.
Tuning allowed. Max. capacity 1000cc. in class A and 750cc. in class B.
Two-strokes or four-strokes allowed of model up to 1972 that is to say shall
have been available during this season.
6.13 Oil
and drain plugs: All oil and drain plugs including fill plugs on motor,
gearbox and shaft drive housing shall be safety wired.
6.14
Catch tanks: Breather and vetilation hoses shall be led to the catch tank.
6.15
Carburettors: See section 5.15.
6.16
Ignition and kill switch: Ignition switch combined with switch for fuel pump
must be fitted, operated by a cord fastened to drivers wrist in the event of
driver parting company with the machine
6.17
Gearbox: To be of a type and model found within the period. No. of gears and
ratios optional.
6.18
Transmission: If the drive train is exposed, then some form of shield must be
fitted to protect driver and passenger from coming in contact. The same applies
in the case of drive shafts, (BMW). Only the rear wheel is to be driven.
6.19
Exhaust and silencer: Shall face to the rear of the outfit. Fixing nuts and
bolts must be safety wired. An effective silencer must be fitted. Levels
according to Supplementary Regulations from Organizer.
6.20
Controls and instruments: Optional. Throttle twistgrip must be self-closing
except pull-open pull-shut type (DellOrto).
6.21
Brake cables: See section 5.21
6.22
Replicas: Shall conform appearancewise with original.
6.23
Sudries: A shield must be fitted between rear wheel and sidecar to prevent
passenger coming in contact with wheel. The passenger shall operate ahead of
the sidecar wheel. The outfit shall make two tracks when riding straight ahead.
7. Machine regulations for Solos up to 1979,
“Forgotten Era”. (A >250 cc and B < 250cc)
7.1 Type
and year: The machines shall be of racer type and available during 1979 season.
Replicas are allowed. Modifications of above machines also newly builtitems
shall conform to the details laid down below.
7.2
Eligibility certificate: Necessary.
7.3 Frame
and swinging arm: Shall be of a style and type used within the period.
7.4 Front
forks: Shall be of a style and type used within the period. Hydraulic or
mechanical anti-dive not allowed.
7.5
Steering: According to period.
7.6
Wheels: Later style or type not used within the period not allowed.
7.7
Brakes: Later style or type not used within the period not allowed. No floating
discs or ventilated type. Brake caliper shall be of the period and have max. 2
pistons.
7.8 Tyres
and inner tubes: Slick tyres are allowed in this class. Inner-tube or tyre
valves should be of the short model with metal sealing valve caps.
7.9 Shock
absorber: Link system in the suspension not allowed.
7.10 Tank
saddle and fairing: Shall be of a type and style found within the period. Naked
machines shall have a front mudguard fitted.
7.11
Racing number plate: See section 1.6
7.12
Engine: Crankcase cylinder and head shall be of a type found within the period.
Tuning allowed. Machining and alteration of original parts as well as fitting
of period accesories is allowed. Reboring to max. oversize allowed even if
capacity exceeds the nominal. Fuel injection not allowed.
7.13 Oil
and drain plugs: See section 4.13
7.14
Catch tanks: See section 6.13
7.15
Carburettors: Optional type.
7.16
Ignition and kill switch: Optional type. Kill switch for ignition or
power-supply must be fitted and be accessible from the handlebar.
7.17 Gearbox:
No external electrical control is allowed.
7.18 Drive
train: Optional. Spring links must be wired.
